Getting Started
Installation Steps:
- Download the installer for your operating system from our website
- Run the installer executable
- Follow the setup wizard instructions
- Taisen Browser will launch automatically after installation
System Requirements:
- Windows: Windows 10 or later, 64-bit
- macOS: macOS 10.14 (Mojave) or later
- Linux: Ubuntu 18.04+ or equivalent
- RAM: 4GB minimum, 8GB recommended
- Storage: 500MB available space
Manual Import Process:
- Export bookmarks from your current browser as an HTML file
- In Taisen Browser, click the Bookmarks button (star icon) in the navigation bar
- Open the Bookmarks Manager
- Click "Import Bookmarks" and select your HTML file
- Your bookmarks will be imported and organized
Supported Browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari
Note: Direct browser-to-browser import is coming in a future update.
Tab Management:
- New Tab: Click the "+" button in the tab bar or press
Ctrl+T - Close Tab: Click the "×" on the tab or press
Ctrl+W - Switch Tabs: Click on any tab or use
Ctrl+Tabto cycle forward - Reopen Closed Tab: Use

Taisen Browser uses Electron's BrowserView for secure tab isolation, ensuring that each tab runs in its own process for better security and stability.
Privacy Features
Taisen Browser uses a multi-layered approach to tracker blocking:
- Built-in Filter Lists: Blocks known tracking domains from Google Analytics, Facebook, DoubleClick, and other data collectors
- Real-time Blocking: Uses Electron's webRequest API to intercept and block tracking requests before they load
- Pattern Detection: Identifies tracking scripts based on URL patterns and behavior

You can see the number of trackers blocked in the status bar at the bottom of the browser window.
Normal Mode:
- Saves browsing history locally
- Stores cookies and site data
- Remembers download history
- Saves bookmarks and settings
- Uses persistent session storage
Incognito Mode:
- No history saved - browsing history is not recorded
- No cookies stored - all cookies are deleted when you close the window
- No temporary files - cache and temporary files are cleared on exit
- Separate session - uses a completely isolated browser session
- Private partitions - each incognito window gets its own unique partition
To enable Incognito Mode: Click the mask icon in the navigation bar or use Ctrl+Shift+N
Taisen Browser automatically upgrades connections to HTTPS when available:
- Automatic Upgrade: When you type a URL without "https://", the browser automatically tries the secure version first
- Certificate Validation: Strict validation of SSL certificates to prevent man-in-the-middle attacks
- Mixed Content Blocking: Prevents insecure content from loading on secure pages
You can identify secure connections by the lock icon () in the address bar.
Settings & Preferences
To change your default search engine:
- Click the menu button (three lines) in the top-right corner
- Select "Settings" from the menu
- In the Settings panel, find "Search Engine"
- Choose from available options:
- Startpage (default) - Privacy-focused search
- DuckDuckGo - Privacy-respecting search
- Google - Traditional search
- Bing - Microsoft's search engine
- Click "Save Settings" to apply changes
Privacy Settings Available:
- Block Trackers: Prevents third-party tracking scripts
- Block Ads: Removes intrusive advertisements
- HTTPS-Only Mode: Forces secure connections when available
- Clear on Exit: Automatically clear browsing data when closing the browser
Access these settings through Settings → Privacy & Security
To set a custom homepage:
- Open Settings from the menu
- Find the "Homepage" field in General settings
- Enter your preferred URL (e.g., "https://example.com")
- Or use "about:home" for the default Taisen Browser homepage
- Click "Save Settings"
You can also click the home button in the navigation bar to quickly return to your homepage.
Downloads & Updates
Default Download Location:
- Windows:
Users\[Username]\Downloads\ - macOS:
/Users/[Username]/Downloads/ - Linux:
/home/[username]/Downloads/
To change download location:
- Open Settings
- Navigate to Downloads section
- Click "Change" next to download location
- Select your preferred folder
- Save settings
You can always access your downloads by clicking the downloads button (downward arrow) in the navigation bar.
Automatic Updates: Taisen Browser automatically checks for updates when you start it.
Manual Update Check:
- Click the menu button (three lines)
- Select "About Taisen Browser"
- The browser will automatically check for updates
- If an update is available, follow the prompts to install
Update Channels:
- Stable: Recommended for most users
- Beta: Pre-release versions with new features
- Development: Nightly builds for testing
Taisen Browser provides comprehensive download management:
- Progress Tracking: Real-time download progress in the status bar
- Download History: Access complete download history through the downloads page
- Notifications: System notifications when downloads complete
- Pause/Resume: Coming in future updates
View your downloads by clicking the downloads button or pressing Ctrl+J.

Troubleshooting
Performance Optimization Steps:
- Close Unused Tabs: Each tab consumes memory and CPU resources
- Clear Browsing Data: Go to Settings → Privacy → Clear Browsing Data
- Disable Hardware Acceleration: In Settings → Advanced, toggle hardware acceleration
- Check for Updates: Ensure you're running the latest version
- Restart the Browser: Completely close and reopen Taisen Browser
Advanced Troubleshooting:
- Monitor memory usage in Task Manager
- Disable unnecessary extensions (when available)
- Check for conflicting software
- Reset browser settings to default if issues persist
Common Issues and Solutions:
1. Privacy Protection Interference:
- Some websites may break due to tracker blocking
- Click the shield icon in the address bar to temporarily disable protection for that site
- Add the site to your allowlist in privacy settings
2. JavaScript Errors:
- Try refreshing the page (
Ctrl+R) - Clear cache and cookies for the specific site
- Check if the issue persists in incognito mode
3. Network Issues:
- Check your internet connection
- Try loading the site in a different browser
- Clear DNS cache (
ipconfig /flushdnson Windows)
4. Certificate Errors:
- Ensure your system clock is correct
- Check if the website's SSL certificate is valid
- Temporarily disable HTTPS enforcement for problematic sites
Reset Options:
- Soft Reset: Close all browser windows and restart Taisen Browser
- Clear Browsing Data: Settings → Privacy → Clear Browsing Data
- Reset Settings: Settings → Advanced → Reset Settings
- Complete Reinstall: Uninstall and reinstall Taisen Browser
Note: Resetting settings will remove:
- Custom preferences and configurations
- Site permissions and exceptions
- Cookies and cached data (if selected)
- Browser history and session data
Your bookmarks and saved passwords will be preserved during a reset.
